Film Magazine

Within our coursework to help to promote our film we had to design a film magazine cover focussing mainly of our film. We had the choice to either use an existing film magazine or create your own. We decided to create our own film magazine, we came to a group decision to call our film magazine 'Movie Reel' as we felt that this was an appropriate play on words and helped to emphasise the comedy within our film.We decided to use a colour scheme of red, blue and white as these are the colours for the American flag, and this helped to emphasise the films American production and style. We used the same font for the title of our film as on our film poster and within our teaser trailer for continuity. We also used the same tag line as in our film poser to again emphasise the comedy within our film.We also used the other groups in our classes film posters to use on the front cover of our magazine to advertise them aswell as our own film, but our film 'Wrongcom' was still the main focus on the cover, we used the other groups in our cxlasses films as they were not copyrighted. We used different fonts for each other films, we tried to use fonts that we felt were relevent to that particular film. We also slanted each of the pictures to help to make the cover stand out and be more appealing to the consumer. We used a white background to keep to our red, blue and white American theme and to also make the picture of our main characters stand out and be the main focus to the consumer eye. We staged our characters for this picture so that the central image looks like that seen at a prom. We tried to be as conventional as possbile when designing and making the magazine by adding a runner at the bottom and positioning our titles and images similiarly to those seen in 'Total film' and 'Empire' as these were the magazines we drew inspiration from. Once our magazine cover was complete we created a questionaire with questions relevant about the magazine and that would enable us to establish a general public point of view. We handed this out to 20 people aged between 15-25
1) What do you think of the title for our magazine cover?Majority answer was that it looked proffessional and was a good size that stood out
2)Do you think our magazine looks realistic? All answered yes
3) Do you think that the colour scheme of the magazine looks professional? What mark would you give it out of ten?majority gave us between 7 - 9 out of 10 and said it looked proffessiona
l4) Does the magazine cover promote the film wellAll answered yes
5) Can you rate the magazine out of ten?Majority answered between 7 - 9
6) What changes would you make to the magazine cover if any?Majority said to review colours and fonts
7) Can you spot any mistakes? All answered no
